For all you Texans...

I was talking on the phone this week to our good friend Raul and discussing the trip up here he and his wife will be taking next month. He said they would be 'ecstatic' to see some snow. Well, I can guarantee there will still be snow in a few weeks when they are here. ;)

This is view out the front door. That's the road behind the bush and it's covered with snow.

The whole backyard. It hasn't melted at all since Nov. The front is in the sun all day and melts away sometimes between snowfalls, but the back has stayed covered in snow.

Plenty of snow for ya, Raul and DeAnna. We can't wait to see you!

Yuck

It's currently -20C (-4F) with a windchill making it feel like -30C (-22F).

We just got back from picking up Gracie from school and my face and ears were frozen from the few minutes we were outside.

Is is Spring yet??

Glass half full

Ok, considering it snowed all night (and off and on today) and it's currently -14C (7F), I have to work really hard to see the glass as half full. I'm naturally pessimistic and under these circumstances, pessimism would come easily to anyone. But I found it. I found the positive in this weather. I went grocery shopping this afternoon and then to the school to pick up Gracie. Even though the groceries (including milk and eggs) were in the car for about a half hour, I was never worried about anything going bad.

How's that for finding the silver lining? :)

Is it Spring yet?

It really hasn't been that bad lately. But this week will be COLD and it's supposed to snow today, tomorrow and Wed. I keep reminding myself that it's almost March already, so we're in the home stretch. I still can't help longing for April or May when we can spend tons of time outside. I feel like a hermit.

What? A post two days in a row? After not posting for weeks? :)

I took this one yesterday. It warms my heart when I see these moments of Gracie reading to Bradley. They happen all the time now too and I just love it.


Doug bought a new old game (Super Mario Bros 3) and was showing the kids how to play. They were all fixated on it and didn't even notice me taking their picture.

I have really been slacking and need to get caught up.

This is how dedicated to grilling Doug is. When we got back from TX and it was -20C (-4F) he still wanted to grill, so he shoveled the deck to get over to the grill and then had to dust it off before he could uncover it. :)


These pics are from this weekend. We've had a lot of chinooks recently and a lot of the snow had melted. Notice how much grass you can see in our front yard. And the absence of jackets on any of us.


It was so warm (about 45F) and sunny that we went for a walk. Notice the strip of street down the middle with no snow! (It took months for it to get down to bare road from all the early snow we had.)

It was really nice weather and we all enjoyed some outside time. It's a good thing too because the chinook is gone and we're not supposed to get above freezing all week. We got snow yesterday (2-3 inches) and are supposed to get more tonight and tomorrow. So much for no snow on the road...

These next two pics I took for the fashion statement my son was making. Underwear, no pants, black socks and (knock-off) crocs. Too funny.

Last month, Doug picked up a new computer case so we could make one for the kids. We had upgraded our own computer last year and had all the old components, so now they have their own computer where we are loading all their games (so they don't mess up ours).
