One month

That's right. It's been a month since Danielle was born. I can't believe it either. (Being born in February did screw her out of a few days though. She's celebrating her 4 week birthday today too.)

I'm getting used to the lack of sleep. Which is to say I've figured out how to get a nap several times a week. ;)

I clearly suck at blogging lately. I'd like to blame it on having a newborn, but I can't get away with that since my friend Bethany has been blogging a lot since her son David was born on March 8th. So I'll just admit I suck at blogging. That's why no one reads it. Ha!

Danielle has been attacked by the dreaded baby acne. These pics were taken within the last week and don't even begin to do it justice. It's really bad. But she's still beautiful.

I love how she gets startled while sleeping and puts her hand up and leaves it there. I can't help taking pics when she does this.

This one looks like she's waving.

I love the lower hand out, like she will catch herself with it.

Here is a pic of our two girls. Gracie is quite a good big sister.

Bradley is just in love with Danielle and has been a terrific big brother, though we are still working on the gentle part with him.

Things are going pretty well. Lately, Danielle has been quite a bit more fussy, especially in the evenings. So Doug and I have decided we make high maintenance baby girls. Which stinks. Because Gracie was a super hard baby and I really didn't want another hard baby. My theory is that Danielle just wants to make me feel better about being done having babies after her... and it's working! ;)

Impetigo

My oldest child has been pretty healthy over her 7 3/4 years. In fact, today was only her second doctor visit that wasn't a well check.

BUT, when she gets sick, she gets sick with weird things I've never heard of before. (Remember when she had Fifth's Disease in Dec '08?) This time, we went in for a rash on her face that started on Tuesday and got worse each day. I called the doctor yesterday and they thought it was viral and not to worry. This morning I couldn't imagine it only being viral so I took her in. And I'm glad I did. She has impetigo, which is a staph infection on the skin. Ewww. And it's contagious. Just what every mother of a 3 week old wants to hear.

We have a 10 day course of antibiotics and hopefully she'll look much better when she heads back to school on Monday. I'm so glad this week is Spring Break. I can't imagine ruining her perfect attendance over this. And I'm really glad I don't have to send her looking like she does. And speaking of that... we have taken pictures but since she is very self conscious I'm not putting any on here.

Let's hope the next 19 doses of medicine go better than the first did.

And while we're hoping for things, let's hope Danielle isn't a drama queen like her big sister. I can't handle two of them.

Everyone wants to hold the baby...

Isn't that always the way it is? Everyone has been coming by for their chance to see and hold Danielle. We love seeing everyone and having photographic proof for Danielle to see when she is bigger.

There are still no good pictures of me with Danielle. Also, no recent pics of Danielle and Gracie or Danielle with my mom. Rest assured, all three of us have had plenty of time holding the baby lately. ;)

Pineapple is here

For those of you who have been living under a rock and missed the news elsewhere, our Pineapple is here and is a GIRL!

Danielle Kathryn was born via scheduled c-section last Thursday at 7:44 am. She weighed in at 8 lbs, 9 oz and was 20.5 inches long. We stayed in the hospital Thursday and Friday night and came home Saturday. She lost quite a bit of weight the first couple of days but is now going back up again. She has quite impressive lung power and isn't afraid to use it.

We're all in love with her, especially her big siblings.
