The first day of school

I took pictures, but will have to post them later as we still don't have the other computer set up yet. She did great and remembered the way to her classroom from Meet The Teacher on Friday. For some reason, I was fighting back tears this morning. I don't know why. She's been going to school for years. Last year and Kindergarten brought no tears, so why would second grade bring them? I think it's because the school is so BIG compared to the ones she's been to in the past. It scares me a little. And I'm supposed to wait for her outside after school and trust that she finds her way to me. That scares me too.

But I know she'll do fine and all this worrying is for nothing. I'm just counting down the hours until I see her again. ;)

Edited to add: She had a great first day! She made new friends already and ate all her lunch and had nothing but great things to say when I picked her up. :)

Someone came back with us from Canada

For those of you who aren't on Facebook, we are expecting baby #3! I'm 12 weeks and everything looks great with Baby, so we are going public with our news. We told the kids this weekend, earlier than planned, because I have been so miserable and Gracie was worried about me. I couldn't let her worry anymore, so I told her. She is ecstatic. And asks all the time about the baby. And kisses my belly already. Bradley hopes for a brother. And wants to wait until the baby gets here to find out if it's a boy or girl. That's about all he has to say on the subject. ;)

I've had a lot of nausea since week 5 and am down about 12 pounds from where I started. My doctor suggested Boost yesterday for the calories, but I'm not too concerned. I'm sure the weight will find me soon enough when food is appealing again. Let me tell you how horrible it is to dream of Mexican food for years and then not be able to eat it when you can have it. I know I'll be making up for lost time when I'm feeling better.

We're debating whether to find out the gender early. We waited until birth with the other two, but are considering finding out at ultrasound this time. Opinions?? Please share your thoughts.

Unsettled

So, we've been living in the new house for two weeks, as of yesterday. I was hoping we would be a little more settled in by now. The study isn't unpacked at all, which means I can't post pics to the blog since the 'big' computer isn't set up yet and that's where we store our pics. Doug and I aren't sure about how we want the furniture in our room yet, so everything is just kind of there. None of our boxes of books are unpacked yet, except the kids. The living room is functional, but not much else. Bradley's room and the kids' playroom are the only rooms that are totally done. Gracie's is functioning as it will, but not painted yet. The other rooms all need paint and/or reorganizing of furniture. This house will feel like home. We will get everything just the way we want it. I just have to remember to be patient.

And on an unrelated note, the kids and I walked to Gracie's school today to see how long it would take us and get her enrolled in school. We were all practically dying by the time we got back home (after 30 min outside). It is so hot here. Our bodies haven't experienced this in years and it's going to take some getting used to. But it's gonna be rough at first. I'm already trying to brainstorm ways to get there faster. And the shittiest thing of all? Despite printing a checklist of everything I would need to get her enrolled today, I got there and they needed three things I didn't have with me. So we walked over there and damn near died for nothing.
