Our snow stinks!

The snow here is very dry. From what I have been told, this is a good thing for driving in it, but it stinks when you are trying to play in it with your kids. I would love to make a snowman, but the snow just falls apart. You can't even make a snow ball. What is the fun of snow when you can't throw it at each other and make people out of it?

Road Trip!

The title came on Thursday, but we were required to give 72 hours notice before crossing. We didn't know until Sat morning after talking with the border that we had the go ahead. So we took a road trip to Great Falls, MT and came back with my car!

Here it is in the garage where it belongs. :)

Bradley had some birthday presents in my car, so he got to open presents in the hotel.

This is the Elmo doll that we got for him.

Reading a new book.

None of us slept well Sat night. The thermostat was impossible to set, so we were hot and then cold and then hot all night. And if it is possible, the air is even dryer in MT than Calgary, so we were all dying of thirst in the middle of the night. Bradley was up from a little after 1 until almost 3:30 and Gracie woke several times during the night too. So I wasn't surprised when Bradley didn't want to get up Sunday morning. But I thought his position for sleeping was too cute and had to snap a pic.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is Thanksgiving for the USA, but Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October, so this day is pretty much like any other day for us (except for getting to watch the Packers play and WIN!). Gracie went to school and Doug is at work. We will have a nice dinner tonight, but I did not make a turkey for the four of us. We hope all of you reading had a nice holiday.

Idiots!

We should have received the title to my car by Monday at the latest. It was supposed to have been sent to us overnight from San Antonio on Friday. Well, the idiots didn't realize it was international to send something to Canada so we won't be getting it in time to go get my car this weekend. I hate that my beautiful car is stuck in the middle of no where Montana instead of being driven. And I hate that the kids and I had to walk to school this morning when it was only 5 degrees outside! Yes folks, that is Farenheit. It was -15 Celcius. And it snowed last night, so we trudged through snow the whole way too. I am so ready to have my car up here!!

Pictures!

Bradley's birthday was pretty uneventful. It was weird that it was only the four of us celebrating with him. Since he doesn't understand what a birthday is yet, I'm pretty sure it didn't make a difference to him though. Since a lot of you missed it who would have otherwise been there, I put lots of pics on here.

Eating dinner. I made one of his favorites: chicken and rice & corn.

The birthday boy with mommy and daddy.

He cried while we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

Thinking about blowing out the candle.

Eating cake and ice cream.

His cake ended up on the floor.
Due to the amount of mess that the dinner and cake made, we paused for a bath at this point. So he is wearing his pajamas for the opening of the gifts.

Reading his new Elmo book.

Opening...

Excited about his new Diego dinnerware!

Opening a dump truck.

Elmo bath toys!!!! Thanks Aunt Ticia!

Playing with some new toys.

Opening the last present from Mommy's friend Shannon. It was an awesome new Diego lego set! Thanks Ms Shannon and David! (It was the biggest hit and they haven't stopped playing with it since it was opened!)

Random

A picture I took of Bradley and I this morning. My hair looks awful every day here. I guess maybe it is adjusting to how dry it is here or something, but I have tried lots of different things and it looks terrible no matter what I do. :(

Gracie got dressed up as a ballerina last night and wanted me to take her picture so I could show everyone. Her library book this week is about two girls who wear their ballerina costumes all the time. Speaking of the library books, I am really happy that her new school has a library. They also have a home reading program. She brings home a home reader and we can keep it as long as we want and then take it back to school for a new one when we are ready. She is doing really well and I enjoy working with her on it. I can't wait for her to really be able to read. I love to read and I hope she will too.

Our weekend

Yesterday was a holiday up here, so Doug didn't have to work and Gracie didn't have school. We all enjoyed a relaxing long weekend. On Sat, we went over the the playground at the school. Gracie rode her bike over there and the kids played. There were only a couple other kids there, so we almost had the whole place to ourselves. Unfortunately, the wind was really blowing so it was pretty cold and we didn't stay long. The temperatures have been mild for this time of year here but the wind has been so bad, it has been feeling a lot colder than it is. We had 20-30 MPH winds last night and today!
Our friends and family in TX tell us it has been about 80 and we are hoping that it will be warm for our visit next month. Maybe I'll even be able to wear flip flops and shorts! :)

Can you tell she is having a good time? (And Bradley too!)

A spill, but luckily she wasn't hurt.

Fun times at the park

After Bradley woke up from nap today, we walked over to the school to play on the playground. Most days, after we pick up Gracie from school, we stay for a bit to play before walking home. I thought that since it was such a nice "warm" day (low 40s) and sunny, we should enjoy some more outside time while we still can. As you can see from the pics, the kids had fun.

Doug and I got married. He had two best men and one of them offered to drive him to Mexico if he wanted to bail. (Thanks a lot, Raul!) Luckily for me he didn't take Raul's offer and instead showed up at the church, late enough for me to freak out a bit, but the rest is history. :)
