Happy Heart

Last month Bradley and I went on a date and at the end of it he wanted to go to Wendy's for a frosty.  So we went to Wendy's and it was deserted.  As we were waiting on our frosties a woman walked in and asked if my car was the one with the Obama sticker on it.  I said yes.  To my delighted surprise, she was an Obama supporter too.  She told me it made her "heart happy" to see it.  She has a yard sign but so rarely sees other signs of support for Obama that she was ecstatic to see my sticker.

I get it.  I often feel like the lone blue person surrounded by a big red dot on the map.

(Probably because there are very few blue people in my very conservative neighborhood.)

But today, while I was driving to the grocery store after dropping Danielle at preschool, I saw an Obama-Biden sticker on a car.  I was so excited!  I sang along to the radio a little louder and had a big smile on my face.  Went in and did my shopping at HEB and when I came out, the truck parked next to me had an Obama 2012 sticker!!!  I am not exagerrating when I say I almost got teary.  I have never seen two Obama stickers in the same week, much less the same day. 

I have a happy heart today.  It's so nice not to feel alone.

No boy scouts for my son

I cannot believe the boy scouts have a policy that doesn't allow homosexual members.  What a load of crap.  How can they get away with blatant discrimination like this?  Shame on them.

Dan Cathy can kiss my ass

Dan Cathy has lost my family's business.  My kids all LOVE to eat at Chick-Fil-A and it has been a hardship for us to stop eating there.  We don't do a lot of fast food, but CFA was one place we all liked to eat.  Any parent of picky eaters knows how much you treasure a restaurant where everyone will eat.  So the fact that I was willing to give that up says a lot about how passionate I am on this subject.  I talked with our kids about why we won't eat there anymore months ago and they are all ok with it because they understand the injustice in what CFA is trying to do.  Now every time we drive by a CFA instead of hearing requests to eat there I hear things like "Bad CFA!" or "I wish they would do the right thing". 

Dan Cathy recently commented that he and CFA support 'biblical families'.  Well I guess that means he is ok with men having multiple spouses, having sex with their servants in order to make babies, having many concubines, etc.  What a load of crap.

I will never understand why anyone could be against two people who love each other getting married.  Who gives a rat's ass if they're two people of the same gender?  I sure don't.  I think love is love.  That's all there is to it.  And don't start quoting scripture on me as a justification for your hateful position on this.  Unless you don't eat shrimp or pork, don't sleep in the same bed with your spouse when she has her period, stone your children for disobeying, etc, you have no grounds to quote scripture here.  There are so many things in the  Bible that applied at the time and no longer do.  Who is to say what things are to be ignored and what things are to be enforced? 

Love is love.  And I want all my children to be able to get married regardless of who they might fall in love with someday.  This is a civil right issue, not a religious issue.  Anyone who is against gay marriage should be ashamed of themselves.  And that means you, Dan Cathy.

Last weekend I did a photo shoot with the kids here at home.  It is really hard to get a good picture of all three of them at once.

So much for regular posts, eh?

I stink at this blogging thing.  But I've decided to use this as a place to air my opinions on things.  No one reads it anyway and I don't want to be someone who clogs Facebook with political rants.  I've been really good this election year and want to continue.  So this will be my place to vent.  And rant.

But I'll still post kid pics too.  I'll start with some of those first...
