World's Worst Blogger Returns

In January, the weekend of MLK day, we got an iPad.  The following week I ordered an iPhone.  And that seems to have been the beginning of the end of my blog.  LOL

So much has happened since then.  The kids both had great years at school this year.  Star report cards for both for this whole year.  We're still loving this school and felt that both kids had excellent teachers this year.  We're still expecting an overseas move next year, so this may be our last year at this school.  But some overseas assignments for this year got rescinded, so nothing is sure.  We will be fine either way and will plan to go but be fine staying another year or more if that's what life brings us.  It's just easier for all of us to stay in the mindset that we're leaving than start thinking we aren't and get sent somewhere when we weren't ready for it.

Gracie was on swim team this year for the first time.  She started out as the slowest kid in her age range.  Every race she finished last at the first several meets.  As long as she improved on her time, we didn't care about how she did in races.  But by the end of the season she had improved so much so that at Championships this past weekend she finished 70 out of 87.  So she had improved a lot by the end of the season.  She's going to take the rest of summer off and then when school starts we'll start her back on swim lessons to improve her breast/butterfly strokes.

Bradley is riding his bike without training wheels now!  He's still shaky and needs me close for emotional reasons, but he can do it on his own.  We have to work on him getting started on his own and on turning.  Right now he rides down the street and then I help him turn back around and he rides back.  So still lots of progress to be made. He is swimming now too, just needs to work on side breathing.  We're doing speech therapy this summer two days/week to work on getting him to say his 'r' sound.  Luckily a family friend is helping us, so it is very low stress for him and all of us.

Danielle is talking up a storm now and bursting with energy and personality.  Anyone on FB knows that she broke her arm this past weekend (was jumping on the bed and flipped off) and today she picked out a purple cast.  The broken arm hasn't slowed her down at all.  The ER docs and nurses couldn't believe how little it bothered her.  She hasn't needed any pain meds at all.  She's our tough girl.  Like the big kids she loves the pool and thinks she can swim.  She jumps in and kicks and moves her arms, so I predict she'll be a swimmer by age 4, quite a bit earlier than the other two.  Luckily for all of us her cast is waterproof so we can continue our frequent trips to the neighborhood pool all summer.

Doug is super stressed with work lately.  June/July are always rough for him, but this year has been worse because of crappy coworkers.  The kids went three days without seeing him last week because he left before they were awake and got home after they were asleep.  Hopefully this stressful time is over soon and things will relax again for him.

I'm keeping busy with all the kids home this summer. We've gotten into a pretty good routine, so it hasn't been too stressful.  And I mostly by myself primed and painted Gracie's room.  She got a room remodel for her 10th birthday.  I'll post lots of pics soon of her new room and D's cast, etc.  I do hope to get back into posting more regularly but if you aren't already friends with me on Facebook you should be, I'm much better about posting pics there since it is so easy right from my iPhone.  :)
